We wanted to create a seemingly effortless solution to move candidates from application onto the next step.

Hiring managers

Our target users were hiring managers in SMBs. Hiring managers in a SMBs can be dedicated HR roles or leads a function in the company. The goal for them was to efficiently screen interviewees with the given data they have and move them through the hiring process.

Recruiters

Recruiters manage the incoming flow of candidates. They are the ones that set up the workflow and tools around hiring. They also manage the people needed to screen or interview for the hiring positions

Getting to inbox zero

Customization for automation

Automation is a constant battle with customization. In the end, adding automation around a hiring tool meant adding a human touch to improve the employer and candidate experience

Email is hard to work with

Edge-cases around using a dedicated email inbox was a learning experience. Spam emails, irregular formatting or built-in email security made the technology very heavy to feed quality experiences

Integrations with other HR software

The HR space is filled with mature products that handle candidates. Integrating with each one of these was a learning experience of quality control when dealing with automation

Talera ceased operation in late 2016. While we had active uses, adoption was low and the peculiarities of using a dedicated email inbox meant having inconsistent experiences. There were many important takeaways from this project, many of which helped me grow as a product focused designer
